car troubles

So one of the spark plugs managed to shoot it's way out of the top of my engine, destroying a coil with it and then only having 3 cylinders while going 80 on the highway.

The whole car shook really violently until you got down to ~50 mph where it was ok. The car had been misfiring at low rpms and when rapidly accelerating for the past couple days but I knew a coil was most likely the culprit, it's common with this engine and had happened before with the previous owner, though he got it replaced before it entirely went out.

After the initial shock and realizing it still was drivable enough to get back home, it was kinda fun to have a 3 cylinder turbo before the GR corolla made it to market!

my roommate didn't like that joke when we were on our way to the hardware store.

The threading for the spark plug on the cylinder it shot out from appears to still be there and I was able to screw one of the other plugs in so unless there are other issues, it could be a pretty easy fix. Here's hoping.

Ever since I got this car, it has made me regret not taking auto shop in high school. Yes cars are not a good method for mass transportation, but as an enthusiast hobby they are quite fun. Plus it's made talking to men a lot easier, one in three guys are somewhat interested in cars and every once in a while you'll find someone really into cars who will talk your head off about his. It's one of those communities where everyone is accepted, whether it be the shaved head lesbian with the bitchin Volvo 240 wagon or the good ol boy uncle with his lifted Chevy, everyone is welcome.
